Telecom Practice Quoted in MissionCritical Communications Article

The Keller and Heckman Telecommunications attorneys were quoted in the MissionCritical Communications article, “6 GHz Incumbents Should Audit Systems Ahead of New Rules July 27.” The article notes that the FCC’s report and order permitting unlicensed operations on 1,200 megahertz of spectrum in the 6 GHz band was published in the May 26 Federal Register, setting July 27 as the effective date for the new rules.

The Telecommunications attorneys said in an email that incumbent licensees should audit existing 6 GHz microwave systems to ensure that site-specific information, such as coordinates and antenna height, is accurate. An automated frequency coordination (AFC) system will rely on licensed data from the Universal Licensing System (ULS) to calculate interference potential.
