Junior/Mid-Level Associate - Data, Cyber and Tech Law (Brussels, Belgium Office)

Description

We are seeking a Data, Cyber and Tech Law Associate to work in our Brussels, Belgium Office.

Your missions and responsibilities:

  • You will work under the guidance of partners in Brussels and Washington, D.C. in advising clients on legal matters relating to all things digital, such as data protection, cybersecurity law, online advertising, data governance and AI governance
  • You will carry out legal research, help prepare court filings, review contracts and prepare business-driven legal advice in relation to high-profile cases, from data-driven initiatives to cutting-edge IT projects and data protection litigation
  • You will assist in preparing and following up on client meetings and presentations
  • You will be responsible for keeping track of relevant legislative and case law developments

Your profile:

  • You have a keen interest in data protection law (advice and litigation) and/or a strong interest in developing expertise and in providing services in legal and regulatory EU and international issues regarding personal data, business information and innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence
  • You have an interest in understanding the technologies that clients use or develop
  • You are admitted to the Bar in Belgium, or in a Dutch or French-speaking EU Member State
  • You are fluent in English as well as in either Dutch or French, and have a strong command of the other language (French or Dutch)
  • You are interested in a long-term commitment
  • You have between 1-5 years of relevant experience (technical expertise may also be considered)

You are a self-starter, hard-working, with a will to learn and to grow, you possess a strong analytical ability with attention to detail, a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to work independently and in a team, excellent writing skills in English and an ability to write succinctly, and you are focused on producing the best possible results.
