2026 Summer Associate

Description

Our Summer Associate Program is a critical component of our recruitment process for new lawyers. The 10-week program is designed to give law students an understanding of our firm's practices and to provide them with an opportunity to gain experience in our Environmental or Food and Drug practice groups. Summer Associates can also request projects from practice groups outside of their designated concentration area. Our Summer Associates receive assignments from Partners, Counsel, and Associates, and work directly with our Scientists. Our Summer Associate Program offers training and development seminars, as well as planned social events and outings in and around our Nation’s Capital.

Our Summer Associate Program activities are coordinated by the firm’s Recruitment Committee. Each Summer Associate is assigned a workload coordinator who provides substantive and procedural guidance on projects and helps to maintain an appropriate workload throughout the summer. The program also features a Summer Advisor, an experienced attorney with the firm, who regularly meets with and guides our Summer Associates during the summer.

To Apply

We are currently seeking qualified second-year law students with a particular aptitude or interest in Environmental or Food and Drug law. To be considered for a Summer Associate position, please forward your application materials (cover letter, resume, transcript, and writing sample) to our Human Resources and Recruitment Manager, Jennifer Ireland, at careers@khlaw.com.
