Katie Bond Quoted in Trellis Article on California's Heavy Metal Disclosure Bill

Keller and Heckman Partner Katie Bond was quoted in the Trellis article, “California’s heavy metal disclosure bill puts vitamin brands on notice.” The article discusses Senate Bill 646, a California bill that would require companies to test for and disclose the presence of lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury in prenatal vitamins, powders, and gummies. Trade groups are expressing concerns that if the bill is signed into law, women may start avoiding these supplements altogether. 

That fear is legitimate, according to Katie. “So often when there’s a law targeting something with an ‘ick’ factor, like heavy metals, there are unintended consequences,” she said.
