Casey Lide represents clients on a broad range of communications matters, including telecommunications, broadband Internet access service, wireless communications, right-of-way management, pole and conduit attachments, and barriers to community broadband initiatives.

Casey frequently counsels public- and private-sector clients on strategic negotiations and transactional matters, including fiber optic and conduit IRUs and leases, master network development agreements, public-private partnerships, easements, public right-of-way license agreements, attachment agreements, ISP service agreements, collocation agreements, fiber and conduit construction agreements and others.  

Casey often is part of M&A teams involving broadband infrastructure companies, providing knowledgeable advice on regulatory due diligence and assistance with transfer of assets, vendor agreement and customer agreements. He also helps clients identify and comply with Federal and state regulatory obligations and market-entry requirements, as well as terms and conditions of federal grants, loans, and other funding opportunities.

Casey is frequently invited to speak on broadband and telecommunications issues at major conferences throughout the United States.

Representative Matters

  • Advised a Midwest U.S. wholesale and enterprise fiber provider in negotiations involving significant fiber optic and conduit IRUs spanning eight states
  • Successfully negotiated and drafted contracts for a landmark fiber development partnership involving a fiber overbuilder and a medium-sized city
  • Assisted a southeastern U.S. electric cooperative with various compliance matters involving its fiber broadband service, including complex questions relating to the federal universal service program
  • Developed small cell wireless siting ordinances and related agreements for multiple local governments nationwide
  • Advised a fiber broadband service provider as to federal and multi-state compliance issues relating to its acquisition of an existing competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC)
  • Prepared a new telecommunications franchising ordinance for a large southern U.S. city and advised the city during negotiations with various service providers
