Antonia Stamenova-Dancheva counsels clients on a wide range of matters, including compliance with federal and state requirements governing product safety, consumer protection, and advertising. She represents clients before various agencies, including the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the National Advertising Division (NAD), and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Antonia also has extensive litigation experience representing companies in consumer class actions.  

Prior to joining Keller and Heckman, Antonia served as product safety and compliance counsel at a major online retailer, where she represented their interests before the CPSC and State Attorneys General. She spent more than a decade in the Los Angeles and Washington, DC offices of a large New York-based law firm where she was directly involved in litigation strategy and day-to-day management of all aspects of civil litigation. Antonia leverages her combined in-house and private practice experience to understand her clients’ needs and, if necessary, to guide them through litigation.

Representative Matters

  • Assisted a global consumer electronics manufacturer in defeating class certification and obtaining favorable summary judgment in a product defect nationwide class action
  • Assisted a global consumer electronics manufacturer in defending a competitor challenge and filing advertiser’s counter complaint before the NAD, and advising on changes to advertising and packaging claims based on clinical studies and consumer perception data
  • Advised a global consumer product manufacturer in successfully resolving a false advertising and breach of warranty class action suit stemming from alleged misstatements on product packaging, point-of-sale materials, and online advertising
  • Advised a global consumer electronics manufacturer on product launch and marketing collaterals consistent with a permanent FTC injunction 
  • Assisted a leading car manufacturer in resolving, through court-ordered mediations and private settlements, product liability claims of several thousand consumers who opted out of a nationwide class action settlement
  • Represented a manufacturer of motor oil products and obtained swift resolution of a lawsuit alleging violations of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act by prevailing on a motion to dismiss

  • The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Equal Justice Advocacy Award in 2014 and 2011 (for pro bono representation of a class of mentally ill individuals in immigration proceedings)
