April 12, 2017 Topic: Testing Under New TSCA.  Not your Grandfather’s Section 4.

This month we discussed the changes the TSCA Amendments made to EPA’s authority to compel manufacturers and processors to test chemicals and develop other risk information.  EPA is already seeking more testing for individual new chemicals undergoing Section 5 pre-manufacture review, and it is gearing up to obtain hazard and exposure information needed for prioritizing and evaluating the risk of a variety existing chemicals under Section 6.  During this webinar we discussed:

• EPA’s expanded authority to compel testing and development of other risk information;
• EPA’s obligation to phase out most vertebrate animal testing over time; 
• Tools and techniques to resist unwarranted animal testing and control costs;
• Filling data gaps; and
• When predictive models just won't do: working efficiently with testing laboratories, and avoiding pitfalls.
