Manesh Rath Quoted in Bloomberg Law Article on Perils of Safety Compliance Missteps
Keller and Heckman Partner Manesh Rath was quoted in the Bloomberg Law article titled “Corn Dust Convictions Show Perils of Safety Compliance Missteps.” The article warns employers that lying to federal investigators can lead to felony charges. Manesh explained that “the opportunity to be exposed to criminal liability in the field of OSHA law is predominated by the possibility of a charge for falsification of statements to a compliance officer or a charge of a conspiracy to falsify corporate records.”
In order to avoid OSHA allegations of providing false documents and statements, Manesh encouraged companies to have a review system in place. “It comes down to a top-down corporate philosophy to train management staff on the imperative of accurate, honest reporting and cooperation with government inspections,” he said.
