George Misko Quoted in Chemical Watch Insight Article on FDA’s Plans for 2026

Keller and Heckman Partner George Misko was quoted in the Chemical Watch Insight article, “What’s next for the US Food and Drug Administration in 2026?” The article outlines key developments for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) coming up on the horizon, given the agency is in a good position to make progress in 2026. “There’s nothing I can see that will stop the momentum carrying over from last year,” said George.

George noted that Department of Human Health Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., who has called for revolutionary change, is focused on pursuing long-term research into the chronic health impacts of highly processed foods. Still, such studies require significant time, and Kennedy may push for action on the MAHA movement’s priority chemicals sooner, George explained.

George suggested that Kennedy may choose to “start twisting arms” to obtain voluntary commitments. For example, the secretary could exert pressure on packaging manufacturers to discontinue the use of certain food contact substances.

“It could be that bulldog kind of mentality – ‘we’re going to stop it one way or the other’,” reflected George. “It’s a revolution. That’s the way he views it.”
