Keller and Heckman Scientist Chen Hu was quoted in the Chemical Watch News article, "Phase-out of BPA and PFAS in food contact materials expected across Asia-Pacific region." The article discusses how the EU's ban on bisphenol A (BPA) in food contact materials (FCMs) is causing a ripple effect across the Asia-Pacific region as more countries implement similar restrictions.

When addressing additional chemicals of concern, Hu noted that phthalates are also under scrutiny. "Even 20 years ago, these types of materials were considered unsafe for food contact applications, but still there are quite a number of phthalates currently used in FCMs," Hu said. He emphasized the importance of phasing out chemicals of concern still used in FCMs and developing alternative materials.
