Azim Chowdhury Featured on Podcast Episode About Juul Settlement

Keller and Heckman Partner Azim Chowdhury was a featured guest on the Winsight CSP Daily News podcast episode, “How Juul Settlement with N.C. Will Reshape Vaping.” Azim joined a panel of industry experts to discuss the implications of leading e-cigarette manufacturer Juul Labs’ recent consent judgement with North Carolina, the first of its kind for Juul. With the settlement, Juul, who North Carolina alleged violated the state’s Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices Act, will have to pay a $40 million penalty over the course of the next six years, as well as comply with numerous marketing and sales restrictions, in order to continue marketing its pod-based e-cigarettes in North Carolina.

According to Azim, the settlement and restrictions placed on Juul “offer a guiding post for the industry to look towards in terms of what companies need to do to avoid marketing to youth and to appease regulators.”
