Ales Bartl Quoted in Inside PFAS Policy Article on EU PFAS Restriction

Keller and Heckman Partner Ales Bartl was quoted in the Inside PFAS Policy article, “Lawyers Urge U.S. Industry Comments On Broad EU PFAS Restriction.”

On March 26, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) issued the Socio-Economic Analysis Committee’s (SEAC) draft opinion evaluating the proposed EU restriction on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), opening a two-month public consultation period scheduled to close on May 25.

“Any input in the ongoing public consultation may mitigate the uncertainties in the SEAC opinion, so companies should really be encouraged to contribute as otherwise there is a risk that some of the derogations will ultimately not be granted,” stated Ales.

Ales discussed the draft SEAC opinion, as well as the final Risk Assessment Committee (RAC) opinion, in Keller and Heckman’s April 8, 2026, REACH 30/30 webinar. He mentioned that although this is the last guaranteed public comment period, there will likely be additional opportunities in the future for industry to advocate for their needs, “either directly with the commission or through member state representatives at the [Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH)] Committee.”
