Ales Bartl, Manesh Rath, and Taylor Johnson Quoted in an Inside OSHA Article on OSHA HazCom Update

Keller and Heckman Partners Ales Bartl and Manesh Rath and Associate Taylor Johnson were quoted in the Inside OSHA article, “Employer Attorneys Raise Compliance Worries On OSHA ‘HazCom’ Update.” The article discusses the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) upcoming Hazard Communications (HazCom) revisions and the possible implications for the chemical industry, internationally.

During Keller and Heckman’s October 18, 2023, OSHA 30/30 webinar, Manesh stated that “OSHA is really putting the manufacturing community importers and distributors in a position where they have to be able to foresee all possible consequences.” Taylor added that this would put an increased burden on manufacturers to classify a chemical and predict the possible downstream reactions to include on required safety data sheets. Ales provided an international perspective on the HazCom revisions and noted that even the proposed update is still behind the current international Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS), which may have implications for companies sending products to the European Union.
