Date: May 17, 2018

For the fourth consecutive year, Keller and Heckman LLP’s Food and Drug practice has been recognized as a Chambers USA Band 1 ranked firm in the area of Food and Beverages: Regulatory & Litigation, reinforcing its position as an industry leader among only two other Band 1 firms. Leslie Krasny, partner in the firm’s Food and Drug practice, is individually ranked Band 2 and partner Devon Hill is a Recognized Practitioner for Food and Beverages: Regulatory & Litigation.

Keller and Heckman’s Food and Drug practice provides clients with the expertise necessary to establish regulatory compliance of foods, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, tobacco, veterinary products, dietary supplements, and cosmetics, including packaging for these products – thus assisting clients in bringing products to market. The practice has more than fifty years of experience representing companies and trade associations before the FDA, the United States Department of Agriculture, Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and other government agencies, and in successfully handling challenges to marketed products, including putative class actions.

What differentiates the firm from many of its peers is our in-house scientific staff. A pioneer in the use of interdisciplinary approaches to legal issues involving safety assessments, Keller and Heckman has had an in-house scientific staff since 1971. Keller and Heckman’s large in-house scientific staff of chemists and toxicologists work closely with the firm’s attorneys on matters of technical complexity, providing an unparalleled depth of expertise. Clients remarked that "Their scientific support staff and contacts within the government agencies are phenomenal." Various market sources reported, "They are experts in food packaging, and very strong in product and chemical regulation."

Leslie Krasny receives her Chambers USA ranking for the ninth consecutive year, and is ranked Band 2 for the fifth time, acknowledging her extensive experience and achievements in regulatory matters involving the FDA, USDA, as well as California’s Proposition 65. Research indicated that Ms. Krasny draws on her scientific background to bring "serious technical expertise" to her work. Ms. Krasny is a partner in the firm’s San Francisco office and represents food companies throughout the supply chain, including growers/shippers, manufacturers, distributors, retailers, food service, and trade associations.

Devon Hill receives his Chambers USA ranking as a Recognized Practitioner for the third year, reflecting Mr. Hill’s breadth of experience dealing with the compliance of food and drug packaging in most of the countries of the world that have established regulatory systems. Mr. Hill is a partner in the firm’s Washington, DC office assisting clients with the regulatory issues involved in the global marketing of new products. Mr. Hill focuses on compliance and testing issues surrounding the regulation of food, cosmetics, and food and drug packaging materials in the United States and Europe.

For over two decades Chambers has highlighted the uppermost tiers of legal performance, establishing those selected for inclusion in its Band categories as leaders in their respective fields. Chambers relies on extensive client feedback in addition to robust independent research to determine its rankings. Individual practices and independent attorneys are ranked based on effectiveness and achievements, experience, and value delivered to clients.

Keller and Heckman has a broad practice in the areas of regulatory law, litigation, and business transactions, serving both domestic and international clients.
