Herb Estreicher Quoted in Article: "US EPA Sticking to Contaminants Position for 1-4-Dioxane" in the August 6 edition of Chemical Watch. The article discusses the dispute over the interpretation of the "conditions of use" in TSCA rules, as the US EPA confirmed its approach not to include the occurrence of 1,4-dioxane as a contaminant in consumer products. The basis for EPA's decision stems from the fact that contamination of industrial, commercial, and consumer products are not intended conditions of use for 1,4-dioxane. Dr. Estreicher commented "we also believe that the 9th circuit will be sympathetic to the agency's efforts to assign priorities and manage its work flow, given the relatively short period it has to conduct the risk evaluation."
