We are seeking a full-time junior level Professional Assistant to work in our Brussels, Belgium Office to join a team of two other Professional Assistants.
The candidate will have perfect command of English and French, both written and spoken, and a sound knowledge of MS Office. Prior experience as a Professional Assistant is an asset, but not a requirement.
The main tasks will include duties such as formatting documents, managing travel arrangements and related expenses, ordering items on websites, sending mailings to clients, printing and photocopying files and documents, and filing.

Title: Practice Group Manager - Food Packaging

We are seeking a Practice Group Manager with 3+ years of law firm experience to work in our Washington, D.C. Office to provide support to our food packaging practice group.
Duties will include:
· Coordinating practice group matters to include enhancing communication channels with our administrative departments; developing and maintaining team operating procedures; liaison with our accounting department to coordinate client billing; scheduling, attending, and assist in the running of practice group meetings; work closely with the partner who leads the practice and the other partners to assess the needs and goals of the group and assist in meeting them;
· Increasing team efficiency by coordinating analysis of team performance metrics (including billing efficiency, etc.); monitoring timekeeper hours to identify areas of underutilization and offer recommendations; working with timekeepers on the timely recording of billable hours; assist in coordinating team workflow; helping to ease the administrative responsibilities of the team professionals and offering suggestions on steps to increase productivity;
· Assisting with team marketing by identifying potential new clients; conducting market research; maintaining the client database; liaison with our marketing department re seminars, webinars, and business development initiatives (including coordination and completion of RFPs); support targeted marketing projects; identify and support avenues for raising our firm’s profile in the team’s area of expertise.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with excellent communication skills, be detail oriented, organized, dependable, able to work well in a team environment, accommodate changing priorities, and exercise sound judgment. Title: Toxicologist - Food and Drug

We are seeking a Ph.D. Toxicologist with a minimum of 5 years of experience with FDA’s requirements for evaluating the safety of food and food ingredients.
In this non-laboratory position, the individual will assist our attorneys and other in-house staff scientists in advising a broad range of companies on safety and regulatory issues involving food and animal feed, with some work on drugs, cosmetics, and related products. Prior experience with conducting food/food ingredient safety assessments is required. Prior experience preparing generally recognized as safe (GRAS) reviews, food additive petitions, color additive petitions or new dietary ingredient notifications is preferred. Familiarity with government health and safety regulations and prior experience with FDA, EPA, and Cal EPA methods for performing statistical risk assessments is also preferred. Experience with safety evaluations for products of biotechnology is also a plus. This position requires the ability to write clearly and communicate effectively.

We are seeking a Scientist for a non-laboratory position to work in our Brussels, Belgium Office. This position is focused on packaging and packaging issues. Responsibilities include assisting with strategizing and drafting regulatory opinions, searching technical databases, attending client meetings, as well as preparing technical aspects of food-contact notifications, petitions and dossiers for filings with agencies in the EU and U.S., e.g., the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Graduate Degree in Chemistry or equivalent is required. A working knowledge of statistics and organic, polymer, paper and analytical chemistry is desired. This individual should have a strong background in plastics and/or chemicals, preferably in the area of food packaging and food, to assist attorneys and other staff scientists in servicing a broad range of companies that make products for use with food, food contact materials, drugs, and medical devices. Experience with REACH or other chemical control laws and/or facility with IUCLID is a plus.
Strong writing skills and command of English and at least one other European language are required.
