Our summer program is a critical component in Keller and Heckman's recruitment process for new lawyers. It is designed to acquaint students with the firm's practice and to provide law students an opportunity to gain experience in as broad a range of practice areas as possible.

Summer associates generally rotate through two practice areas that interest them most, and will receive assignments and direction from both partners and associates within those practices. Among the practice areas from which summer associates may choose are the following: Environmental, Food and Drug, Litigation, and Employment/Workplace Safety and Health.

In addition, summer associates have the opportunity to request projects from practices outside of their special concentration areas. The program offers other work related programs for training and development, as well as more relaxed social activities.

Our summer program activities are coordinated by the Recruitment Committee. Associates act as workload coordinators for the various rotations. One senior associate is assigned to act in an advisory capacity, responding personally to any concerns a summer associate might have regarding work assignments, interpersonal relationships, and general office procedures.
