Ms. Merten-Lentz assists clients throughout the food chain with issues ranging from marketing (food labeling, health and nutrition claims, organic labels etc.) to innovation (nanomaterials, genetically modified organisms, novel foods). She also helps clients in the food and feed area obtaining European authorization for new additives, enzymes and novel foods.
Based on her expertise Ms. Merten-Lentz works on a regular basis with academic institutions, European and national professional bodies, and commercial organizations. She often represents clients before national and EU courts and helps them managing food crisis (recall/withdrawal of products, risk assessment).
Ms. Merten-Lentz is a frequent speaker at international conferences, seminars and workshops on food/feed law, and regularly contributes to food/feed publications. She is one of only four Chambers and Partners ranked attorneys in the category of Regulatory: Agro/Food—Europe-Wide, and she is also recognized by The Legal 500 in both Belgium and France as a Leading Individual in the category of EU Regulatory: Food. Ms. Merten-Lentz has degrees in EU competition law and corporate/business law, and speaks fluent French and English.
