Pole Attachment Development (August 9, 2002)
FCC Pole Attachment Order

Date: Aug 09, 2002

The FCC continues to subsidize the cable industry at the expense of electric and telephone utilities by imposing unreasonably low pole attachment rates. The latest example is an order released yesterday allowing cable companies to attach to poles owned by Nevada Bell for only $1.26/pole.

Particularly regrettable is the Commission's rejection of more accurate, actual numbers generated internally by Nevada Bell in favor of estimates based on publicly available information.

The order is Nevada State Cable Television Ass'n v. Nevada Bell, DA 02-1930 (released Aug. 8, 2002).
