CBRS Has Gone Live in the 3.5 GHz Band: What You Need to Know

The Keller and Heckman Telecommunications Practice held a complementary 60-minute webinar, "CBRS Has Gone Live in the 3.5GHz Band: What You Need to Know".

The FCC has authorized the initial commercial deployment phase of the Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) in the 3550-3700 MHz band. Unlicensed General Authorized Access (GAA) tier spectrum is available on a limited basis and full commercial deployment likely will commence in the next several months. The auction of Priority Access License (PAL) tier licenses is expected June 2020. This webinar described the FCC’s rules for the CBRS band, highlighting SAS functionality.

Wes Wright and Greg Kunkle from Keller and Heckman were joined by Paul Anuszkiewicz from FCC authorized SAS provider Federated Wireless.

Attendees learned:

  • The general FCC rules for CBRS operations;
  • The timing and structure of the FCC’s PAL auction;
  • How the SAS authorizes and coordinate CBRS users;
  • How SAS security is managed; and
  • The current status of Part 90 3.65 GHz band licenses and when licensees must transition to new services.
