Komal K. Jain joined Keller and Heckman in 2008 as Counsel. Ms. Jain advises clients on a variety of environmental and regulatory matters, including compliance with transportation of dangerous goods regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and community right-to-know laws.
After graduation from law school in 1995, Komal worked as an environmental consultant with Booz-Allen & Hamilton, Inc. That work included the development of guidance documents for the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Defense (DOD). Ms. Jain was an associate with Keller and Heckman from 1997 to 2001, and then accepted positions with EPA's Office of Water Enforcement and the Federal Aviation Administration's Office of the Chief Counsel, where she gained significant experience in federal rulemaking, compliance and enforcement proceedings, and policy development. Her work included union negotiations, interface with trade associations and interagency discussions. Appointed by Virginia Governor Mark Warner in 2003 and subsequently reappointed by Governor Timothy Kaine in 2006, Ms. Jain also serves on the State Water Control Board of Virginia as Vice-Chairperson.
